Micca has released an update to their popular EP350 Digital Media Player. The EP350 is at the core of Micca’s EP series of advanced capability digital media players that combine class-leading video and audio playback performance along with enhanced network functionality. These players provide the additional features, settings, and capabilities that expert users are looking for.
The new EP350 G2 is based on the same successful design formula of its predecessor: medium size form factor with internal 3.5″ HDD drive tray, brushed metal enclosure, and full AV connectivity including everything from composite video up to HDMI v1.3. What the new model brings is an upgrade to the Realtek RTD1185 decoder/processor, which has quickly become the market favorite replacement for the previous generation RTD1073. The new G2 also sports an updated look with a more modern appearance, with a partially mirrored front fascia and more angular corner treatments than its predecessor.
In the back, the EP350 G2 provides a complete assortment of AV connections. Standard composite/CVBS video and analog audio output provides backward support for analog TVs. Component video output (YPbPr) supports resolutions from 480p to 1080p, which is useful for HD display devices made prior to the popularity of HDMI. Both a coaxial and optical SPDIF digital audio output connections are available, supporting up to 5.1 channel surround sound output. The HDMI output provides up to 1080p video and 7.1 loss-less HD-audio output, conforming to v1.3 standards. Two USB host connections are available for attaching any USB storage device, including newer 3TB drives. The mini USB jack allows the EP350 G2 to be connected to a computer for faster transfer of media files to the internal hard drive (if installed).
